Poor service over the phone trying to put a travel notice on my card.
First time I called they were not able to put a travel notice on my card and said they would follow up the following day for it to take effect.
The follow up did not happen so I called again the following day and they could not authenticate me with key information I had on one call the second time.
Extremely difficult to work with, would not recommend if any help is going to be required over the phone. Their technology is outdated for identity verification. Worst part was their customer service has a lack of accountability.

Been with Spectrum my entire adult life and they are by far the lowest rates on mortgages and the highest rates on savings. I would highly refer them to anyone.

My Father, Donald Scribner, was a Bechtel founding member and was very happy with Spectrum. He was an honorable hardworking man and would be appalled at how I was treated today! I became a member in 2019. I had excellent service until today. Today this credit union appropriated $2,550 from me, a severely ill and disabled abused poor single mom. I have been dealing with a severely financially abusive ex husband for 2 years. I have been in open forthright ,communication with Spectrum about the issues. I sent my divorce decree to them and asked them for extensions on the loans. They claimed they didn't receive the decree but they were extending the loans until one was not extended last March by mistake. I was blessed with a large financial payment from a car sale I worked hard to complete and avoid repossession, which I deposited in my joint checking. I received news that caused me concern regarding my ex husband and wanted to transfer my money out right away. Spectrum kept me on hold 30 minutes while I sat in my car waiting in the Texas 104 degree heat at a shared branch for my money. They approved my transfer. But when the teller processed my form it was discovered that Spectrum suddenly transferred money from my checking to the past due loan (for my ex husband's teeth not my car mind you) that is in a court enforcement action and didn't even say anything to me about it. It was like my ex husband stealing even more from me and I ended up having a heat seizure in the 104 degree heat with long haul COVID and preexisting brain injury. Rather than sue Spectrum for inhumane business practices and not allowing me to decide what to do with MY money during a very life threatening time, I just thought I would share my utter disgust at the way I was treated today 7/25/2023. I am a believer in Christ Jesus and I believe in paying my debts, but I also believe in helping people in crisis like me. I need that money for rent and living necessities and medical care and to protect my child. The customer collection agent would not let me finish my sentences and kept YELLING at me that I refused to listen to her. If I had been working there in my day I would be fired!! People are having great hardships and what used to be a good credit union has fallen to the corporate Chevron greed and could care less about their customers. As soon as I can figure out how to pay my car loan I am DONE with Spectrum! Do not do business with these evil people!!! Please find me on Facebook if you would like to donate to help me and my daughter. I am opening a crowdfund account. No I can't work even part time. I am DISABLED and fighting for my child!!! Thank you if you read this far. The Lord Jesus bless you!

My husband banks here. We will be ending services soon because we have found a much better institution. Dealing with spectrum has been a hassle from the beginning.

If you misplace your debit card, you will have to wait a whole month before receiving another! Unless you pay for expedited shipping. And that’s only if you can speak to someone on the phone who actually knows what you’re asking them to do. Their customer service is horrible, all outsourced to people you can’t understand and vice versa. Our new credit union prints debit cards for us at the branch if we need a replacement.

We sent a credit card payment from our checking, and due to my mistake the payment went over by $18. Can you believe the payment was CANCELLED, we were charged a $35 return payment fee with our credit card company, and spectrum had the nerve to also charge us an NSF fee despite not allowing the payment to go through! I have never had a bank do this to me, much less a credit union since they’re supposed to be all about minimizing fees. Even a customer service rep from the credit card company commented on how ridiculous that was. Keep in mind we had money in our savings that could have been used to cover this overdraft like most institutions do.

These are just a few of the issues we’ve had with this poorly run bank. Avoid the headache and take your business elsewhere.

UPDATE: Reply to their response. They obviously miss the point of my review. I'm in my 50s and have been dealing with financial institutions for a long time. I know the difference between security verification and aggressive collection tactics that are completely unwarranted and uncalled for. This credit union has lost touch with decency. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!

This credit union used to be our go to institution if we needed a loan. They were friendly, had very good terms, and went out of their way to put their customers first. We currently carry our mortgage with them along with a couple of smaller loans but will soon be switching everything somewhere else because the last couple of years their customer service has gone from "customer first" to "customers suck" Case in point: Around 4 years ago we were informed our monthly mortgage payment would be going up (escrow adjustment for property taxes etc.) No problem accept these increases happen in December when a LOT is going on and I forgot to adjust my automatic payment. Definitely my fault. Spectrum noticed I failed to change my payment and gave me a call to let me know I was short. "No big deal, just send the difference and make sure you fix the withdrawal amount for next month!" I thanked them and took care of it. Fast forward to this year. Same exact scenario, I screwed up and forgot to adjust the payment. No call, they send me a letter in the mail Christmas week saying my payment was short about 100 dollars. And since my mortgage payment is late now I also owe a late fee and if this wasn't corrected immediately they would be taking action to accelerate the loan. Note also that this letter came from a collection agency. A phone call to them directed me to a woman that only wanted every piece of personal info she could get out of me to "verify my account information" Because of a 100 dollar shortage on a single mortgage payment that I corrected as soon as I was made aware, they went into full foreclosure mode. Unbelievable to be treated like that after being a customer for 10 years, high credit rating, and no loan defaults. It seems every financial institution eventually falls under management that decide they need to screw their customers (Compass, BankONE, Wells Fargo and now Spectrum) so we are moving to refinance elsewhere. DON'T DO YOUR BANKING HERE!!

Despite the fact the credit union is inconvenient to me in location, I have banked with them exclusively for over 25 years. I have had to step in that physical location maybe 5 times in all this time because they always offer opportunities to do most things over the phone. The staff is kind, courteous and always always pleasant. Their savings rates are excellent and their online banking options compete with all the “box store banks”. I am about to open savings accounts with them for each of my children. Happy Spectrum customer!!

Loosing popularity with me because they constantly change the staff and office surroundings. People Change Makes me feel uneasy about someone new handling my account every few months. Thinking of taking my banking business elsewhere. Value me - value your staff and keep the same people in place to show you business is stable with stable employees.

I visited this location to do a share branch transaction while on vacation. I cannot remember the name of the representative that assisted me, but she was really polite. There were actually three representatives in the office during my visit and we all began to chat about my being from Mississippi! It felt like the family type atmosphere I always received at my small local credit union.
